Chinese New Year

I have never gone through a photo essay before, however this one posted about Chinese New Year I found to be very interesting. The pictures on the website show different places around the world celebrating Chinese New Year in different ways. A large part of this celebration for people is to understand what they have been doing and what they want to do and accomplish in the New Year. Each year is marked with an animal, for instance, this year is the year of the rabbit. People during celebration wear rabbit years and acknowledge the traits of this year like being kind and gentle. Many decorations for this holiday are red which is an important color in Chinese tradition. This photo essay showed many different decorations from places like Washington to Hong Kong. I like how different places all over the worl are celebrating the Chinese New Year and that they are educating people of the importance of this holiday. The stories will continue to be passed on about the 12 animals that are designated to years and what each animal is supposed to mean for the upcoming year. I liked this photo essay because the caption were small and really gave a good idea of what was going on in the photo and why.

  1. okay, you've gotten started but there's a long way to go if you are going to post enough by the start of May

do you realize that newspapers, NPR, all kinds of media offer photo essays, videos, etc., on all kinds of topics?
